(F20) does anyone mind describing their experiences dating someone during AIT and their military career in general? Were you able to visit them during specialized training? Did they receive any leave time? I already know that basic will be tough but that isn’t my primary concern as it’s only 10-12 weeks.
My wife lived like an hour and a half from me, never knew anyone in the military, didn't care that I was in the army, everything was perfect. Went through a deployment, got married when I came home, were together for 8 months, and she left me for a guy who got booted from the Army. So it's not always the perfect equation. I met my husband about 8 months before I joined. He was already in and kinda tried to persuade me from joining but it didn't work. We got married while I was AIT (for 8 months) and he was just about to deploy. What a honeymoon /s. It's been about 2 and a half years and it's defintely been rough.
So my (now) ex cheated on me with one of her Drill Sergeants and is now dating him. I'm not in the army, but I know she is still in IET/AIT/TRADOC. Should/could I do anything to fuck with them? Drop an anonymous tip about their relationship (if it's not allowed? I don't know much about UCMJ but I feel like Cadre/permanent party relationships and/or NCO/Junior enlisted relationships wouldn't be allowed) To the mods who are gonna think this is shit posting, it really isn't. I dated this girl for 3 years and I'm pissed. Advice?
Update: I have called and spoken to the IG at her basic training base and given all proof. I chose to remain anonymous so I will not receive a follow up, but I am sure I will hear about it in the weeks to come, and if so I will update you guys with that news.
Alrighty so here we go. Before anyone says it I know we have SARCs and whatnot and they are the technical answer to who I should ask but obviously I’m asking for informal answers and guidance before going the official route.
My good friend in AIT here at glorious fort Jackson has an Instagram, with rather risqué pictures. Nothing overtly sexual but some rather revealing shots. This has been a point of conversation in the past with us and our mutual friends discussing wether they are appropriate or not. Not shaming or anything. Mutual discussion between friends on if she should keep the photos up. They remain up currently.
Now to the dilemma. She just got a notification that one our our instructors(Staff Sergeant) liked one of her more risqué pictures. Definitely not something even close to an appropriate picture for an instructor/NCO to be looking at of his soldiers. Both NCO and student sign contracts not allowing any contact via any means besides for training for 182 days from the end of training. After training it should only be in official capacities. So it would be an issue if he liked a picture of her with her dog, but it’s definitely an issue because he liked a picture of basically her nipple. He then unliked it and blocked her in minutes. They have no mutual friends and he couldn’t have stumbled upon her or the picture accidentally because it would require he go to her profile and scroll down a bit to find.

So here is the question. To report or not report. She feels incredibly uncomfortable now. Especially because he is her instructor. However at a SHARP luncheon with our battalion SARC, Lt Col, and CSM last week our SARC made it clear having photos like that could be a SHARP issue in the first place(I personally don’t agree, I think anyone should be able to post pictures of themselves if they would like to.) I worked in the corporate world along side VPs for good while and I personally keep my entire online portfolio of photos professional in nature as a result of seeing many situations like this play out.

So if my friend reports in your experience could she get into trouble herself? To add she is a specialist.
